How to Add Custom Tabs to the FluentCart Customer Dashboard

Updated 18 October 2026

Dashy for FluentCart allows you to customise your FluentCart customer account dashboard by adding extra navigation tabs.

You can use these tabs to display content such as custom forms, support information, account resources, shortcodes, or existing WordPress pages.

This guide explains how to create tabs, choose their content, customise their icons, and control where they appear.

Creating Your First Dashboard Tab

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to FluentCart → Dashy.
  3. Add a new dashboard tab.
  4. Enter a name for your tab, such as Request a Quote.
  5. Select an SVG icon for the tab.
  6. Choose whether to use FluentCart’s dashboard colours.
  7. Select the content you want to display.
  8. Choose where the tab should appear in the navigation.
  9. Click Save Changes.

Now visit your FluentCart customer account dashboard and refresh the page.

Your new tab should appear in the account navigation.

What Content Types Are Supported?

Dashy for FluentCart supports two main ways of displaying content inside custom dashboard tabs.

1. Shortcodes

You can enter a WordPress shortcode and have its output displayed directly inside your new dashboard tab.

This is useful when another plugin provides a shortcode for displaying a form or other functionality.

For example, you could create a Request a Quote tab that displays a quotation form provided by a compatible third-party plugin.

To use a shortcode:

  1. Create or edit a tab in Dashy.
  2. Select the Shortcode content option.
  3. Enter the shortcode provided by your chosen plugin.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Refresh your FluentCart customer dashboard.

The shortcode’s rendered output will appear when the customer opens that tab.

Note: Dashy displays the shortcode output but does not provide the functionality behind third-party shortcodes. The plugin supplying the shortcode must be installed and configured correctly.

2. WordPress Pages, Posts and Custom Post Types

You can also display content from an existing WordPress page, post, or custom post type.

This is particularly useful if you want to manage the content using the normal WordPress editor instead of placing everything inside a shortcode.

To display existing content:

  1. Create or edit a tab in Dashy.
  2. Select the Page, Post or Custom Post Type content option.
  3. Choose the content you want to display.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Refresh the customer dashboard.

When the customer selects that tab, the chosen content appears within the dashboard.

For example, you could create a WordPress page containing some introductory text followed by a shortcode. Dashy can then display that page inside the customer account area.

This lets you combine text, blocks, and shortcodes without needing to build a separate dashboard interface.

Choosing a Tab Icon

Each custom tab can have its own SVG icon.

When creating or editing a tab, simply select your preferred icon from the available options.

Matching FluentCart’s Dashboard Colours

Dashy includes an option to use FluentCart’s dashboard colours for your custom tab icons.

We recommend enabling this option if you want your new tabs to blend in with the standard FluentCart navigation.

Without it, your chosen SVG icon might appear darker or use a slightly different colour from the built-in icons.

Enabling the dashboard colours option makes the icon more consistent with the rest of the customer account interface.

Controlling the Position of Your Tabs

By default, new custom tabs can appear towards the end of the customer account navigation.

Dashy also allows you to position a tab after a specific existing dashboard item.

For example, if you want your Product Information tab to appear immediately after Purchase History:

  1. Open the tab’s settings in Dashy.
  2. Find the positioning option.
  3. Select Purchase History as the item the new tab should appear after.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Refresh the customer dashboard.

Your custom tab will now appear in the chosen position.

Editing an Existing Tab

You can return to FluentCart → Dashy at any time to make changes.

For example, you can:

  • Rename a tab.
  • Change its SVG icon.
  • Enable or disable dashboard icon colours.
  • Change its content source.
  • Adjust its position in the navigation.
  • Remove tabs you no longer need.

Remember to click Save Changes after making adjustments.

How Many Tabs Can I Add?

Dashy for FluentCart does not impose its own fixed limit on the number of custom tabs you can create.

However, Dashy uses FluentCart’s native dashboard tab API, so any limits imposed by FluentCart itself will still apply.

For usability, we recommend keeping the customer dashboard navigation organised and only adding tabs that are useful to your customers.

Example Uses

Dashy for FluentCart can be useful for adding:

  • Request a Quote: Display a quotation form using a compatible shortcode.
  • Support: Display a WordPress page containing support information.
  • Help & FAQs: Show an existing help or frequently asked questions page.
  • Resources: Display customer resources or instructions.
  • Custom Forms: Embed forms supplied by compatible WordPress plugins.

The content you can display depends on the chosen page, post, custom post type, or shortcode.

Troubleshooting

My new tab is not showing

Make sure you’ve clicked Save Changes, then refresh the customer account dashboard. Also confirm that Dashy and FluentCart are activated.

My shortcode isn’t displaying correctly

Check that the plugin providing the shortcode is active and the shortcode works elsewhere on your WordPress site.

My icon is a different colour

Enable the option to use the dashboard colours, save your changes, and refresh the dashboard.

My tab is in the wrong position

Edit the tab and use the positioning option to place it after the desired dashboard item.

Summary

Dashy for FluentCart makes it easy to extend your customer dashboard without custom development.

Whether you’re adding a simple information page or embedding functionality from another plugin, everything can be configured directly from your WordPress dashboard.
